The Taliban calls sanctions on their senior members by the EU useless

Following the sanctioning of three senior members of the Taliban cabinet by the European Union Council, this group reacted by saying that these sanctions are useless and not in the interest of any side.

Last Thursday, the EU Council added Chief Justice Abdul Hakim Haqqani, Minister of Justice Abdul Hakeem Sharai and Taliban Education Minister Habibullah Agha to its list of human rights sanctions.

“Interaction, dialogue, and understanding should be used instead of pressure and sanctions, repeating failed experiences against Afghans and imposing policies has not yielded any results,” Mujahid added in a tweet.

The EU has sanctioned these Taliban members because of their role in depriving girls and women of the right to schooling, education, and equal rights with men.
