This is the first manned mission since the space station entered the application and development stage.
The Shenzhou 16 spacecraft, carried by a Long March-2F rocket, launched at 9:31 a.m. from the Jiuquan Satellite Center in northwestern China.
Approximately 10 minutes after launch, the Shenzhou-16 spacecraft separated from the rocket, and entered its predetermined orbit, the Chinese Manned Space Agency (CMSA) declared the launch a success.
