The Washington Post quoted members of an online discussion group as saying that the person who leaked the classified US documents is a young man under 30 years old. He worked in a military base and is interested in weapons.

In this published report, it is said that the young man shared the classified information in an online discussion group on the Discord messaging platform. The members of this group were a number of young men and boys who are also interested in weapons and military equipment.

The Washington Post did not name the man, and the report was based on interviews with two members of the group.

The Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Justice of the United States have not commented on this matter so far.

Last week, the United States Department of Justice started their investigation in this field following the leak of more than 100 confidential information documents of this country on social networks. This is the biggest leak of US classified information since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

One of the members of this messaging group said that this young man is between 20 and 25 years old and is a traditional person. Another information source, who is under 18 years old and did not want to be named, described this man as saying: “He has an athletic and strong body and is trained.”

Defense Department spokesman Chris Meagher told reporters that the reality is that releasing the documents online “poses a very serious risk to national security and has the potential to create disinformation.”

He added: “We continue to investigate how this happened and also the extent of the incident. Actions are being taken to further analyze how this type of information was distributed and to whom it was done.”

A Pentagon spokesman declined to comment on the authenticity of the documents, saying a team from the department was working to determine the authenticity of the story. However, he clarified that the published photos seem to contain sensitive information.

“The photos appear to show documents in a format similar to those used to provide our senior officials with the latest updates on operations in Ukraine and Russia, as well as other intelligence updates,” he said.
