The Declaration of the Republican Women’s Network in Support of the Decision by 20 Countries for the Prosecution of the Terrorist Group Taliban.

Report: Ahmad Sohail Parto

It is an objective and undeniable truth that Afghanistan has become a safe haven for domestic, international, and regional terrorists. The leader of the Taliban, Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, while afraid to appear in public, continues to tighten the space for the ordinary lives of the Afghan people, especially women, with his medieval and fruitless laws. As each day passes under the rule of this group, the situation worsens.

The Taliban have deprived women of education, taken away their intellectual and moral rights, dissolved political parties and civil society, eradicated meritocracy, and looted the country’s resources. Injustice, including targeted killings of former government employees and military personnel, happens daily across the country. Nearly a thousand women are imprisoned in Taliban jails without having committed any crime. Overall, Afghanistan has turned into a safe haven for the promotion and spread of extremism, gender-based bigotry, genocide, and gender apartheid. The Afghan people are now enslaved and oppressed by merciless and baseless terrorist groups, using the weapons and equipment once provided to Afghanistan by the international community.

Therefore, the logic of humanity and the principle of justice demand that we unite against terrorism and the darkness that has befallen our country. We must stand in solidarity with Afghan women protesters and join the people of Afghanistan, especially women, in the fight to destroy and dismantle this group. We call on other countries to take a stand against terrorism and cease all interactions with the Taliban. Otherwise, it will not be long before terrorism reaches their own doorsteps.
