Otunbawa: Taliban’s policies are not acceptable to the international community
The deputy representative of the United Nations in Afghanistan said: Taliban policies that deprive women are unacceptable for the international community.
On Roza Otunbawa, the head of the United Nations mission in Afghanistan, presented a report on the situation in Afghanistan in the Security Council.
He said that talking with the Taliban does not mean recognizing this group.
According to him, these talks show how much the United Nations is trying to change the policy of the Taliban.
He pointed out that Afghanistan has been involved in conflict and war for half a century and Afghan people, especially girls, should be able to live in a peaceful society.
Otunbayeva added that the interaction of the international community with the Taliban should be done through the mediation of Islamic countries.
The deputy representative of the United Nations in Afghanistan has emphasized that the Taliban cannot have international legitimacy without domestic legitimacy.
The “justification” meeting of the United Nations Security Council is currently being held.
With the emergence of the Taliban in Afghanistan, international institutions and countries of the world have always expressed concern about the violation of human rights in the country by this group.
