Increasing the number of female workers on the roads of the capital
Economic stagnation, climate changes, hunger and women’s work restrictions along with political developments have caused an increase in needy people and families headed by women.
Kabul, like most women in an urban country, is patient. But it is crowded which accommodates many people. A population that lives in extreme poverty with minimal facilities and has no plans for employment. On the other hand, the ban on women’s work has caused many women to do hard work from morning to evening in search of a piece of bread.
His name is Mersal, and he sells paper towels and mineral water in the scorching heat, and his child is sitting on a stool. He regretfully says that due to economic problems and the absence of a guardian in the family, he roams the streets of the capital from early morning until late at night, looking for a piece of bread for his children. Mersal adds that he has five children and is the sole breadwinner of the family.
A few steps away is another woman who, according to her, has been hawking for seven years because of her husband’s death.
On the other hand, the decrease in the number of female employees in government institutions has caused many concerns among women. Meanwhile, a number of women’s rights activists believe that the reduction of women’s wages is not fair.
This is despite the fact that poverty and unemployment in the country have increased significantly in the past three years, and the number of poor and unemployed people, especially women workers, on the roadsides of Kabul is increasing day by day.
