More than 50 private schools in Herat have been closed

‏ Officials of private school unions in Herat say; After the Taliban took over the country, more than 50 schools in this province have been closed by the Taliban.

‏ According to these officials, the ban on girls above the sixth grade from attending classrooms, the lack of budget and the bad economic situation are the main reasons for the closure of schools in Herat.

‏ On the other hand, the officials of this union say that after the Ministry of Education banned the education of girls, a large number of female professors became unemployed.

‏ Saber Meshaal, the head of the private schools union in Herat, says that more than 50 thousand female students were studying in private schools in this province, but after the announcement of the Ministry of Education and the closure of the schools, the girls stayed home and about 50 schools were closed due to lack of funds. and female teachers were also unemployed.

‏ He says: “During the Republic, we had about 250 private schools, but with the arrival of the Islamic Emirate (Taliban), this number decreased, and currently 200 private schools are operating in Herat, but girls above the sixth grade cannot go to these schools.”

‏ Our life is hard
‏ On the other hand, a number of teachers of these schools have complained about unemployment and wanted to reopen the schools to female students.

‏ Samia Shams is one of the teachers of the private school. He says; He has been the breadwinner of the house and could provide for his family with the money he earned. But after the closure of the schools, he lives a difficult life.

‏ He continued: “For about five years, I was working for a private school and I had a good income. In this way, I used to find the expenses of my family. After the Taliban came, our income only decreased, but after the closing of the girls’ schools, we did not receive any money at all, and at the same time, our financial situation is bad. It is very difficult for me to support my family.”

‏ Shams emphasized that this policy of the Taliban, besides being very ugly, can be very expensive for the people, and also if the Taliban make life difficult for the people; People will finally make a revolution and this revolution will be caused by hunger.

‏ Maryam Rashid is another private school teacher in Herat. He has also lost his job as a teacher for months and is having a hard time, he even tried to sell his kidney.

‏ Maryam, who is the sole breadwinner of her family of 12, says that banning girls’ education will not only make generations illiterate, but will kill a part of the society from hunger.

‏ He emphasized: “Taliban’s ideology is to remove women from society so that they can rule alone.” But they do not understand that for the survival of their government, women must also have a share. Because if the situation continues like this, we will not only have an illiterate group and this is a shame, because the economy, society and culture are related to each other.
‏ Economic progress is not possible without the presence of women

‏ Meanwhile, economic experts say; The closure of educational centers and all institutions will slow down the circulation of money and economy in the society and in most cases will cause the destruction of the economic system.

‏ Ehsan Vasheq, one of the economic experts, believes: “In the situation where the country is currently in a state of economic crisis, they should seek to encourage these private centers so that the economic system is not destroyed.” Closing private schools for girls and preventing women from working in general has a significant impact on the political development process of the society and all the people of the society. Economic progress is not possible without women and their participation.

‏ According to the officials of the Taliban Education Department in Herat, in 1400, 400,000 female students were studying in all private and public schools, of which 50,000 students were in private schools.

‏ Abdullah Amini, the head of education of the Taliban in Herat, said at the beginning of the new academic year that in the academic year of 1402, about 700 thousand students will go to school throughout this province.

‏ According to him, no school will be closed in the new academic year and 1,200 schools will be open for male and female students in the city and 19 districts of Herat.

‏ While the Taliban say the state of education in the country is good, the organizations that support children and education in Afghanistan do not see the state of education as good.

‏ Earlier, UNICEF or the United Nations Children’s Fund said that at least 4.2 million children in Afghanistan are deprived of education and 60% of them are girls, and this terrible blow to education and
‏ The economy is in Afghanistan.
‏ This is while, according to statistics from the international organization for the protection of children, two out of every five children in Afghanistan are deprived of education, and the deprivation of girls from economic education will further stagnate.
