ISIS confirmed the death of the leader of this group and announced his replacement
ISIS has confirmed the death of its leader Abul Hussein al-Quraishi and says that he was killed in clashes in northwestern Syria.
Abu Hadifah Ansari, one of the spokespersons of Daesh, said on the group’s Telegram channel on Thursday, August 12, that Abu Hussain was killed in a clash with the jihadist group “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham” in the city of Idlib, Syria.
However, the ISIS spokesman did not specify when their leader was killed.
According to him, Abu Hafs al-Hashemi al-Quraishi has been appointed as the new leader of this group.
Abu al-Husseini al-Quraishi is the fourth ISIS leader to be killed since the group’s self-proclaimed caliphate emerged in 2014.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on April 30 this year that Turkish forces killed Abul Hossein al-Quraishi during an operation in Syria.
In November of last year, after confirming the death of Abu Hassan al-Hashemi al-Quraishi, the former leader of this group, ISIS announced the election of Abu al-Hussein al-Husseini Qureshi in his place.
Before Abolhassan al-Hashemi al-Quraishi, Abu Ibrahim al-Quraishi was the leader of ISIS, who was killed in the operation of American forces in Idlib in February last year.
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the first leader of ISIS, was also killed in October 2019 in an operation by American forces in Idlib, Syria.
