Dozens of Afghan Refugee Families Displaced in Iran Following Recent Attacks

with the report prepared by Fahim Sajadi.

Following the recent Israeli attacks on Iranian territory, dozens of Afghan refugee families — particularly in Tehran — have been forced to flee their homes once again. Many of these families include human rights defenders, protesting women, and other vulnerable groups who had previously fled Taliban threats and sought refuge in Iran. For these individuals, returning to Afghanistan is neither safe nor viable.

These displaced individuals are currently facing extremely dire humanitarian and security conditions. The vast majority lack access to basic necessities such as clean drinking water, food, and adequate shelter.

The Arghavani Saturdays Movement has issued a public statement urging all international organizations — especially the United Nations Office in Iran and global human rights bodies — to take immediate action to address this growing humanitarian crisis and ensure access to safe shelter, protection, and essential services for these refugees.

The statement reads:

“We strongly emphasize that targeting civilians is considered a war crime under the principles of international humanitarian law. Accordingly, we urge the international community to take swift and effective measures to protect the lives of Afghan refugees and asylum seekers in Iran.

We also call upon all human rights defenders in Afghanistan, Iran, and Israel to stand in solidarity and advocate collectively for the protection of civilians.”

This appeal was released by members of the Arghavani Saturdays Movement, with the report prepared by Fahim Sajadi.
