A number of Afghan scholars living in India, who have obtained bachelor’s and master’s degrees in various fields, are not ready to return to Afghanistan under the rule of the Taliban.

It is reported that 7 Afghan students have graduated from different universities of Sindh in Odisha state of India.
According to this media, the students’ concern about returning to Afghanistan is the prevailing atmosphere in the country and the lack of job opportunities for them.
Two students have completed their studies at National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, three students at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar and two students have completed their study program at CV Raman Global University.
According to the information, after the student period of these young Afghans, their study visa has expired and the Indian government is not willing to renew it.
Ibrahim, an Afghan student, said, “Education in one of the top engineering institutes in India promised a new hope in my life and that of other members of my family. But the resumption of power by the Taliban in August 2021 dashed all my hopes.” “Looks like all the hard work I’ve put into my education is going to waste.”
Ibrahim adds that after the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan, his family’s income has disappeared.
Roma, an Afghan female student who recently graduated with a degree in Business Administration from the University of Arts, Commerce and Sciences.
Roma, who is desperately seeking to extend her study visa and be offered a scholarship in India, said that apart from her studies, she was also sending money to Afghanistan for her family’s expenses.
Although the official statistics of the presence of Afghan students in India have not yet been provided, according to reports, around 400 to 600 young Afghans are studying in this country at various times.
