Pakistan’s Army Chief has arrived in Tehran to “plan a second round of Iran–U.S. negotiations.”

Iranian state media reported that General Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, arrived in Tehran on Wednesday evening (April 16) with the aim of “conveying a message from the United States and coordinating preparations for a second round of talks.”

A senior Iranian official also told Reuters that Field Marshal Asim Munir’s visit is intended to “help reduce tensions between Iran and the United States.” Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, is accompanying him during the visit.

According to Iran’s state broadcaster, citing informed sources in Pakistan, the second round of negotiations between Iran and the United States is expected to take place in the coming days, hosted by Islamabad.

The first round of talks was held earlier this week on Saturday in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. However, after approximately 21 hours of discussions, the two sides failed to reach an agreement.
