Deadly Airstrike Hits Treatment Center in Kabul; Hundreds of Civilians Killed

Kabul – March 16, 2026

In one of the deadliest incidents in recent months, an addiction treatment center in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, was struck by an airstrike, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of defenseless civilians.

According to reports, the attack occurred on the evening of March 16, at a time when more than 2,000 patients were receiving care and treatment at the facility. Official sources state that over 400 people were killed and hundreds more were injured.

Authorities in Afghanistan have blamed Pakistan for the attack, describing it as a “clear crime against humanity.” They emphasized that targeting a medical facility constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law.

Meanwhile, officials in Pakistan have denied the allegations, claiming that the intended targets were military and logistical infrastructures, not a medical center.

The incident has sparked widespread reactions across the region and internationally. Organizations including the United Nations have called for an independent and transparent investigation into the attack.

Experts warn that continued escalation could further worsen the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and intensify regional tensions.
