Official Resolution of Afghan Refugees in Pakistan

Islamabad – F6 Press Club Protest | July 2025

We, a group of Afghan refugees residing in Pakistan, participating in the peaceful protest held on 28 July 2025 in front of the Press Club Islamabad (F6), hereby present this resolution to convey our demands, concerns, and the voice of our suffering to the attention of the responsible authorities, international institutions, and all awakened consciences.

1. Unclear and Threatening Legal Status

Despite years of living in Pakistan, we are still deprived of the right to legal residence, identity documents, and access to basic services such as education, healthcare, employment, and travel. Now, with numerous reports of arbitrary detentions, forced deportations, threats, and harassment of Afghan refugees, our daily lives have become severely disrupted.

2. Suspension of Legal Immigration Processes

The recent decisions involving visa suspensions, halting of relocation cases, and non-responsiveness from relevant offices have shattered the hopes of many families. We respectfully call on the authorities to urgently resume and facilitate legal migration channels.

3. Demand for Transparency and Accountability from International Institutions

We urge UNHCR, IOM, and other relevant organizations to act transparently, responsibly, and in a coordinated manner. Many refugees remain in limbo—awaiting answers, assistance, or relocation—without any official updates or communication.

4. Appeal to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

We appeal to the Government of Pakistan to uphold human dignity, Islamic values, and the principles of humanity. We, the Afghan refugees, are not enemies of Pakistan; we are victims of war and oppression. We request that arbitrary detentions, forced deportations, and security-related pressures cease immediately.

5. Call to Third Countries

We call on refugee-hosting countries—especially the United States, Canada, Germany, and Australia—to accelerate the relocation of vulnerable Afghan refugees and to reactivate their resettlement programs without delay.

Final Statement

With respect and peace, we declare that we will not abandon our voice of justice until our legitimate and humanitarian rights are fulfilled. This resolution is presented with hope—for it to be heard, acted upon, and bring change—signed by a collective of refugees and activists present at the protest.

With deepest gratitude and respect,

Cultural Committee of the Justice-Seeking Group
