Over the past nearly four years, several countries have, under various pretexts,

Report by Ahmad Soheil Parto

deliberately pursued a policy of willful neglect and calculated indifference toward the crimes committed by the Taliban especially crimes against humanity and the gender apartheid imposed on Afghanistan women. These countries have, both openly and covertly, sought to strengthen and normalize their relations with this group.

Recently, some countries particularly in Europe have intensified this trend by using the pretext of deporting so-called “Afghan criminals” to Afghanistan. This action is not only deeply concerning but also further endangers the resistance of Afghanistan women against the Taliban regime. In effect, it amounts to circumventing and undermining their struggle.

We hereby strongly emphasize the urgent need to stop this harmful practice. We call on all countries, especially Germany, to seek alternative solutions for the return of Afghan nationals accused of crimes, and to refrain from any direct engagement or expansion of relations with the Taliban. This matter must be addressed without granting any legitimacy to the Taliban.

August 15 is not merely a dark day in Afghanistan’s political history but also a black day in the history of human rights. The international community particularly countries involved in Afghanistan—bear responsibility for this tragedy. Therefore, we call on the United Nations, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), and all governments and international institutions to provide a clear and transparent account of the actions they have taken over the past four years in response to the Taliban’s gender apartheid regime, which continues to systematically violate the rights of women, vulnerable ethnic groups, and religious minorities.

We also call on the international community to collectively condemn the disgraceful Doha Agreement on August 15, which paved the way for the Taliban’s return to power. In solidarity with the people of Afghanistan, especially women—we demand firm assurances that the illegal and gender-apartheid Taliban regime will not be recognized under any circumstances.
