Report on the Specialized Workshop Exploring the Gap Between Media Portrayals and Field Realities in Regional Conflicts

The National House of Afghan Journalists held an educational-analytical workshop on Saturday, June 27, entitled “The Gap Between Image and Reality: Media Power Display vs. On-the-Ground Truth.”

The session was attended by more than 26 journalists and journalism students from various academic and media institutions in Kabul.

The purpose of the workshop was to examine how media narratives are shaped in relation to regional conflicts and tensions, and how these portrayals differ from actual field realities. Speakers focused particularly on the case of the Zionist regime and Iran, analyzing the role of international and regional media in constructing narratives around wars and political crises.

The workshop featured discussions on the role of media in reinforcing or undermining the perceived power of regional actors, the influence of media on public opinion, and the responsibility of journalists in portraying the truth. A space was also provided for dialogue and exchange of perspectives among participants.

At the end of the session, participants were recognized for their engagement, and emphasis was placed on the importance of continuing analytical training to enhance media literacy in the country.
