Threatened with Expulsion from School; A 16-Year-Old Afghan Girl in Iran Committed Suicide

A 16-year-old Afghan girl named Arzu Khavari committed suicide after being threatened with expulsion from school in Shahr-e-Rey, Iran.

According to Tasnim News Agency, this female student experienced stress after being threatened with expulsion by the school principal on Sunday afternoon (November 3rd) and subsequently took her own life.

The General Directorate of Education for Tehran Counties in Iran confirmed the death of this Afghan student but did not provide any explanation regarding the cause of her death.

The statement from the Directorate of Education for the Districts of Tehran stated: “On Sunday afternoon (November 3rd), one of the female Afghan students residing in Shahr-e-Rey was injured after falling from the height of a residential building following her departure from school.

Despite the immediate transfer to the hospital and the efforts of the medical team, she passed away.”
