Iranian Official Urges People to Report “Undocumented Foreign Nationals” to the Police

Sardar Ghasem Rezaei, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Law Enforcement Force, called on the public to report any gatherings of “undocumented foreign nationals” to the police. Rezaei stated that it is also illegal for “undocumented foreign nationals” to buy or rent bank cards, housing, or vehicles.

Sardar Ghasem Rezaei said, “Due to the events of the past forty years in our Muslim and friendly neighbor, Afghanistan, a number of its citizens have migrated to our country to continue their lives. Some of these individuals have entered the country completely legally, and they are our guests, which is perfectly fine.”

He added that other foreign nationals have entered Iran “illegally” and are working and living here, and their actions are considered criminal under the law.

The Deputy Commander-in-Chief emphasized that employing “undocumented foreign nationals” is a crime, and employers who give jobs to these individuals will face legal consequences.

Sardar Ghasem Rezaei noted that according to new policies, “undocumented foreign nationals” must return to their home countries, and the police are facilitating their return.

He pointed out that wherever “undocumented foreign nationals” are seen, the police are obligated to identify, gather, and return them to the borders.

This comes as the Islamic Republic has increasingly accelerated the expulsion of Afghan migrants. Official reports show that Iranian authorities arrest and return hundreds of Afghan migrants to Afghanistan daily.
