Additionally, a number of responsible officials from the councils related to Afghan refugees residing in Islamabad, Pakistan, were present. Due to the numerous challenges and issues faced by the refugees, the advocacy meeting was held with the leadership of Hub, represented by Ms. Nadia, head of Hub, and Ms. Soba, UNHCR lawyer. The meeting was prompted by the lack of sufficient attention from the international UNHCR office towards the refugees, many of whom are dealing with severe security problems.

In this meeting, various issues faced by the refugees were discussed. Refugees, who had been experiencing severe security threats, had repeatedly approached the UNHCR offices and its partner organizations for assistance and attention to their security concerns. Unfortunately, no support or cooperation had been provided by UNHCR in Pakistan.

The refugees are dealing with numerous problems, including:
– Assassinations
– Armed attacks
– Continuous threats

– Economic hardships
– Mental and psychological issues
– Uncertainty about their future
– Lack of education for their children
