The Taliban must stop the executions.
A day after the Taliban executed a father and son in Ghazni, Amnesty International said the group must halt all executions.
Responding to the execution of two people in Afghanistan, Livia Saccardi, Amnesty International’s regional deputy head in South Asia, said: “We are against all executions as a violation of the right to life. The Taliban often carry out these executions in public. It is a grave insult to human dignity. Also, violating international laws and standards cannot be tolerated.”
This organization has also asked the Taliban to cancel other cruel, inhuman and humiliating punishments in addition to execution.
“Public executions add to the inherent cruelty of the death penalty and can only have an inhumane effect on the victim and a brutal effect on those who witness the execution,” Amnesty International’s statement said.
