America supplies depleted uranium ammunition and Abrams tanks to Ukraine

American officials announced that they would provide 31 Abrams tanks and ammunition containing depleted uranium.

Al-Jazeera network reported on Wednesday night, September 6, quoting a senior official of the US Department of Defense, that the country has $175 million worth of assets, including 31 Abrams tanks and depleted uranium ammunition, which are to be delivered to Kiev by next fall.

Quoting this news, the American official added: “We have decided to send most of the ammunition containing depleted uranium so that it will be ready for use as soon as the Abrams tanks are delivered.”

Meanwhile, the country’s Defense Ministry also announced that Washington will send war munitions containing depleted uranium to the country as part of a new $175 million military aid package.

Statements from the White House and the Pentagon indicated that the discovered cargo was a number of 120 mm Abrams tank shells containing depleted uranium.

Armored shells were developed by the United States during the Cold War to destroy former Soviet tanks, including the T-72, which they developed in a counterattack to that attack.

Earlier, Britain announced sending uranium ammunition to Kiev.

American officials supported this decision, but Moscow has not reacted in this regard so far.

Russian President Vladimir Putin warned a few months ago that Moscow will respond appropriately to the fact that the West has resorted to using weapons.

The new US military aid packages came as Secretary of State Anthony Blinken arrived in Kyiv on an unannounced visit on Wednesday, September 6.

The purpose of this trip is to announce US support for Kiev and review the three-month military counterattack against Russian forces.
