Sepko: America helped spread corruption in Afghanistan
The US special inspector for the reconstruction of Afghanistan announced that Washington has helped spread corruption in Afghanistan.
John Sepko, the US Special Envoy for Afghanistan Reconstruction, stated that Washington lost too much money and helped spread corruption in Afghanistan.
He said in the “Royal United Services Institute of England” that corruption in Afghanistan is the biggest challenge for America and the White House has an unrealistic approach to this country.
Sepko added: “Afghanistan is a very poor country that was suddenly flooded with huge sums of money and at the same time there was not much supervision.”
The US special inspector for the reconstruction of Afghanistan added: We had more than 50 countries and international organizations operating in Afghanistan, but coordination between the United States and other countries was very difficult.
He said that one of the other challenges is the lack of coordination and ignorance of the countries and organizations involved in Afghanistan regarding each other’s activities. We and our allies did not know what they were doing and who their contractors were.
Earlier, while appreciating Washington’s support for warlords and corrupt officials in Afghanistan, the US special representative for Afghanistan reconstruction said that 29 cents of every dollar spent by the country is wasted on Afghanistan.
