From the existing signs, it can be said that even if the US government has not fully accepted such proposals, its approach towards the Taliban government is clearly aimed at de-escalation, normalization of relations and unofficial acceptance of the Taliban government as the only competent central power in Afghanistan.
What does Europe say?
The Council of Foreign Affairs of the European Union emphasized in its meeting in March (2023) that the interim government of the Taliban must respect human rights, form an inclusive government, not support and shelter terrorists and allow the people of Afghanistan. Access to humanitarian aid and be able to travel freely within or outside of Afghanistan. The members of this council agreed that stability in Afghanistan is essential for the stability of the region and prevention of terrorism, forced displacement and indiscriminate migration. According to EU estimates, 28 million Afghan citizens are in need of aid and 6 million are at risk of famine.
