United Nations: Continuing humanitarian aid is the last way to save Afghanistan

The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs of the United Nations, known as OCHA, announced that Afghanistan is facing a drought for the third year in a row, the second year of severe economic problems, the consequences of decades of war and natural disasters.

Ocha added in a tweet that $4.62 billion is needed to help 23.7 million people this year.

This United Nations body had previously said that the budget for humanitarian operations in Afghanistan is running out and this problem is endangering the lives of millions of people.

Ocha said that less than five percent of the UN’s financial request for aid to Afghanistan in 2023 has been funded.

This institution stated that while the Afghanistan crisis is the biggest and most serious humanitarian crisis in the world, humanitarian operations in this country have the least financial aid.
