President Joe announced that the US military has picked American diplomats and their families from Khartoum, the capital of Sudan.
A US official said the operation was “quick and comprehensive”.
Fewer than a hundred people were reportedly seen on Sunday when three Chinook helicopters landed near the US embassy to pick them up.
The gentlemen thanked Djibouti, Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia, saying they were “vital to the success of our operation”.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced that it has started its experience and diplomatic expert from Sudan.
Sudan’s military and its opposition, the so-called Rapid Reaction Militia, said a convoy was fired upon as it left the French embassy, forcing the convoy to turn back. Both sides have been blamed for this attack.
A French citizen was reportedly injured, although French officials have yet to comment.
Last week, heavy fighting started in Khartoum and some other parts of the country between the army and the rapid reaction forces, who are at odds over the transfer of power to a civilian government.
The war has so far claimed the lives of dozens of civilians
