Protesting Women’s Coalition: The international community only issues a statement and is not with the women of Afghanistan

Women’s protest movements say that they have formed a coalition with each other in order to stand “stronger” against the Taliban. This coalition says that the international community has only limited itself to issuing declarations in response to the situation of women in Afghanistan.

Six women’s protest movements are members of this coalition. The members of these movements said in a press conference in Kabul today (Wednesday, 2 Hamal) that their activities are spontaneous and popular and are not related to political groups.

In a joint statement, the protesting women also said that they have formed a coalition to prevent some concerns in the conditions where they are facing a thousand restrictions and exclusions.

This declaration states: “We believe that in addition to trying to realize the goals and aspirations of the Afghan people and addressing the demands of the women and girls of the country, whose side is the Taliban group, we must also be careful about the groups and people who are against the Taliban.”

They said: “We don’t want the credibility of the protesters to be questioned by the people and make people distrustful, so this is one of the reasons for forming the coalition.”

In their announcement, the protesting women said that the international community in the past one and a half years in response to the situation of women under the rule of the Taliban was only satisfied with issuing declarations and did not stand by the women of Afghanistan in support of human and democratic values.

They added that the civil society institutions that have been active in Afghanistan in the last twenty years have not shown their meaningful support and solidarity towards these movements.
