Tensions between the Wagner group and the Russian Ministry of Defense; White House: We are monitoring the situation

After the head of the Wagner militia group called for armed action against the Russian Ministry of Defense, the White House has announced that it is monitoring these developments.

The American media reported on Friday, June 23, quoting Adam Hodge, the spokesman of the White House National Security Council, that the President of the United States, Joe Biden, is aware of the issue.

He added: “We are monitoring the situation and will consult with allies and partners about these developments.”

Yevginy Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner group, published several videos and audio messages of Sergey yesterday
Shoigu accused the Russian Defense Minister of ordering the rocket attack on the group’s military base.

He noted that his forces would now punish Shoigu in an armed rebellion and called on the Russian army not to resist.

On the other hand, the Russian Ministry of Defense denied the rocket attack on the group’s base and asked Wagner’s fighters to arrest Prigozhin and refrain from his “criminal and treacherous” orders.

In a new audio message on Saturday, June 24, Prigozhin warned that he will take all necessary measures to overthrow the Russian military leadership.

He added: “We are moving forward and we will go to the end. “We will destroy everything that stands in our way.”

The head of the Wagner military group has confirmed that his forces have arrived from Ukraine to the Rostov region in southern Russia, which is the command center of the Russian army in the southern regions.

However, Moscow has stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin is regularly informed about the growing tensions between the Wagner Group and the Ministry of Defense.
Russia’s Tass news agency said the Kremlin took Prigozhin’s threat seriously and tightened security measures in Moscow and Rostov.

The head of the Wagner Group, a close ally of Putin, has previously criticized Russian officials, especially Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Russian Army Chief Valery Gerasimov.
