Passport from Afghanistan
The Taliban has announced that it will resume the distribution of passports online in Kabul and the provinces of Afghanistan from next Wednesday.
Abdul Karim Hasib, the head of the passport department of the Taliban government, said in a press conference today: “We ask all the compatriots who have already registered in Kabul and whose main residence is in the provinces, to go to the provinces to get a passport.” After this, everyone can get passports in their provinces.”
The distribution of passports was stopped by the Taliban in October of last year, and the administration announced that the reason was “technical changes to improve” the passport distribution process.
Since the Taliban returned to power in August 2021, hundreds of thousands of people have left Afghanistan and requests for passports have been high.
In the past five months, when the distribution of passports has been suspended, there have been allegations that many people were able to obtain passports by paying illegal money, although the Taliban denied these allegations.
